The O’Connell Residence

Before & After

Scope: 2nd Story Addition, 1st Floor Renovations

Challenges: This was a fairly straight-forward design project, however because the existing home fell across the set-back line, a zoning variance was required by the town of Oyster Bay. I was able to present the project to the Zoning Board of Appeals and get the approval. Keeping the existing brick of the house was important to the homeowners. I presented the clients with the idea that by changing the direction of the floor framing, the new second floor would line up with the exterior brick.

Outcome: The owners said they love how the new house looks now.
